Haggai 1:15b - 2:9

Pentecost +24 - Year C

Haggai 1:15b - 2:9

Do you remember the day and time of your awareness of an organizing principle for your life. Early or late, it is a time worthy of remembrance or anticipation.

For Haggai a word of "courage" stands out as an organizing principle in the face of desolation.

Courage allows us to see possibilities (G*D, if you will). Courage remembers promises still to be fulfilled that are worth waiting for and working toward. Courage abides even when fear is on the edge of staking a toe-hold in life. Courage is especially needed when splendor occurs and prosperity threatens to overwhelm our sense of being cared for and willingness to care for others - when it is so easy to lose track of what is important.

Courage is what Haggai needed. What do you need as something you will stake your meaning in life on? Your principle might be something larger or smaller than Haggai's - size of meaning is not an issue here: simply having one, is.
