peace left
peace to the right
peace quietly surrounding

too much peace
leaves us troubled and afraid
for any shoe to drop
much less a second one

so we relearn peace
piece by piece
taught and retaught
overarches and underpinnings
always relearning

learning to leave
learning to return
learning to be content
in leaving
being left
always returning

peaceful in shadow
peaceful in light
peaceful in hope
peaceful in terror
peaceful in Troas
peaceful in Macedonia
peaceful here
peaceful now
